Wow! Mr. Casey, have you ever been a lax player...do you know what "lax" stands for before we go on in this comment? Have you done your sportswriters job as to why the 3 Jeffco H.S. can add the l-a-c-r-o-s-s- e program? Who approved the adding of another sport in an already depleted and ruinous school district with major $$$$$ blunders i.e. Dr. Pepper's 1986-87 renovation of his superintendent's office exceeding $260,0000 AND just to name another "the computer glitch in the 1990's of $7 to $9 million lost dollars due to hiring the wrong people to implement the technology in jeffco classrooms!?! With 4 furlough days, decreasing teachers, salaries, and school programs... my question to you....you ever complete your research for future h.s. sports programs before "getting it out there????" Looks like a top heavy field, as it does every year. Arapahoe looks like the heavy favorite, but anything can happen in a 1 & done playoff, especially if a goalie and/or faceoff man gets hot. Should be a fun playoff.

Last year of all teams in 1 level. Going 5A & 4A next season with about 30 teams in each. That means 2 playoffs. It will be interesting to see what format they use, and if there are any 1st round byes.

Dakota Ridge, Lakewood & Clear Creek will be adding Varsity teams next year. The 1st 2 will probably be 5A. This could affect the balance of power in Jeffco as players from these schools will not be playing for other schools.

Need based--how convenient a term that is. It is really easy to find very strong, fast young men in financial need. How many 5'6, 110 pound clarinet players do you have at your school that have "financial need". I was at a Valor football game and noticed that for a school it's size, there certainly are a lot of large, fast students in the building. I didn't notice the band however. How many students of need are in the arts and music programs?

Valor has been recruiting as do all schools to a certain extent. How else could any school, public or private get that good, that fast. What makes Valor so caustic to the public school folks is the arrogant, non-christian actions by a small portion of their school parents, students and supporters. I am sure that the vast majority of parents at Valor are honest and well-intentioned. But the damaged perception of the school due to blatant recruiting by a few paints a broad picture of most. Valor supporters, you may not agree with it, but your image is tarnished and you need to do something about it. Not my opinion, but a reality of your actions.

How about the Denver Post's article interviewing Brock Burgland, who said he was recruited to Valor as an 8th grader. That sounds pretty factual to me.

In this article, and the previous versions, we have heard the boundary of Valor and Regis, but what of Mullen? Is there boundary as large as those of Valor and Regis? What about the smaller schools like Colorado Academy, Kent Denver, Holy Family, etc?

FYI: Before my son went to private school, of which he had already committed, he was approached by 2 head football coaches from public schools. They read me and him the riot act for not going to their schools. He was in 8th grade. Unethical people are everywhere.

Hey Casey, you helped with this whole mess by posting your article the day after the championship game. Great timing, typical media move. I don't think I have ever seen more one sided reporting in my life than what you and your partner in crime scribbled down in that article. What a couple of goofs. It's pretty obvious you have an axe to grind with private schools. I'm sorry you had to go to a public school but not my fault. And good luck with your career, washed up, half truth writers are a dime a dozen in your industry. Look around Casey papers are dying a slow death, it will not be long before your waiting tables at Champs. Just try and remember I like an orange slice in my Blue Moon beer. And by the way have you pulled your head out of Berglund's a-s yet? Have you noticed how quiet Paul at CHSSA has been? Yeah getting taken to task for slanderous comments in a court of law tends to quiet people down. Remember that Casey next time you throw some mudd at the paper to see what sticks. Do your research and write with some integrity.

Just another example of the squeekiest wheel getting the oil! When will CHSSA lead? Public schools still get to have open enrollment. ie. Philip Lindsey of Denver South Lives next to Overland and should attend school in Aurora or how about Shiad Hoover the star running back that goes to East, he lives in Green Valley. When is CHSSA going to learn that the level of Coaching is different at private schools. Why do you think it is that the schools in the burbs in youth football continually dominate innercity youth leauges? Because the coaches are better. I hope every championship in every sport is dominated by privates this year just to see the next stupid moves CHSSA makes.

The best moves for the private schools are when student athletes move in state from another state. They can then interview schools to see which is the best for them. Case in point, Jack DelRio's superstar son, now at Valor.

Continue ruling against private schools and the State, County, City will never get a tax increase vote nor will you overturn TABOR. If government officials are so daft as to think this stuff doesn't impact how people vote, then they are foolish. 99% of private schools follow all the rules religiously (excuse the pun). Why make a rule. Deal with the rule breakers. How about academic standards be policed better too.

Although I am not certain of all the implications, this rule should apply to any student going from Private to Public too, and including middle school transfers immediately prior to entering high school. Additionally some district allow moves within the district to other schools. This too is covered under the rule.
